India's Pavilion Inauguration

At the World Hydrogen Summit 2024 held in Rotterdam, Netherlands from May 13 – 15, 2024, India marked a significant milestone by setting up its own pavilion for the first time. The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Government of India, spearheaded this initiative, with Secretary Bhupinder S. Bhalla inaugurating the pavilion on May 12, 2024. Notably, the India Pavilion emerged as one of the largest at the Summit.

Showcasing India's Progress

The World Hydrogen Summit, a premier event in the global green hydrogen ecosystem, drew an estimated 15,000 delegates worldwide. India utilized this platform to exhibit its advancements in Green Hydrogen technology and showcase its commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

Comprehensive Representation

The Indian delegation comprised representatives from various governmental bodies, including the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Railways, and Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, alongside participants from the private sector. This diverse representation facilitated meaningful engagements and collaborations with global industry counterparts.

India's Green Hydrogen Mission

India's commitment to Green Hydrogen was underscored by the launch of the National Green Hydrogen Mission in January 2023, with a substantial investment of Rs. 19,744 crores. The mission aims to achieve a green hydrogen production capacity of 5 MMT (Million Metric Tonnes) by 2030. Noteworthy progress includes the awarding of tenders for 412,000 tonnes of Green Hydrogen production capacity and 1,500 MW of electrolyzer manufacturing capacity.

Guidelines and Initiatives

India has also taken significant steps to promote the use of Green Hydrogen across sectors such as steel, transportation, and shipping, through the notification of scheme guidelines. Additionally, the Department of Science and Technology has initiated Hydrogen Valley Innovation Clusters to foster innovation in the Green Hydrogen ecosystem.

Centralized Information Hub

To provide stakeholders with easy access to information about the National Green Hydrogen Mission and related developments, India recently launched a dedicated portal: National Green Hydrogen Mission Portal. This portal serves as a centralized hub for updates and resources pertaining to India's green hydrogen initiatives.
