About the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) Campaign
• Type: Nationwide campaign against substance abuse.
• Launched: 15th August 2020
• Nodal Ministry: Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment
• Background: Part of the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR, 2018) → fulfills the State’s obligation under Article 47 (DPSP).
Aim
• To create a drug-free, healthy & disciplined youth population, contributing to national development & social well-being.
Strategy (3-Pronged Approach)
1. Supply Control → by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB)
2. Demand Reduction & Awareness - by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (outreach, awareness drives)
3. Treatment & Rehabilitation - Ministry of Health & Family Welfare
Coverage
• Initially in 272 high-risk districts (identified via the National Survey on Substance Use & NCB inputs).
• Now expanded to all districts nationwide.

• Youth, educational institutions, civil society, and community organizations.
