Growing epidemic WHO target for diabetes 2024 | Types of Diabetes?

Type 1 diabetes:
- In type 1 diabetes, your immune system destroys insulin-making cells (beta cells) in your pancreas. These are called beta cells.
- In type 1 diabetes, human body produces very little/no insulin.
- Insulin need to administer daily to maintain blood glucose levels under control.
- Children and young people are the main victim of this diabetes, so it used to be called juvenile diabetes.
- Symptoms: polyuria (excessive excretion of urine), polydipsia (thirst), hunger (most of the time), weight loss, vision related problems, and fatigue.
Type 2 diabetes:
- Human body do not use of insulin that it produces.
- More than 95% of Indian people with diabetes have type 2 diabetes.
- Reasons: excess body weight and physical inactivity.
- Symptoms: may be similar to type 1 diabetes. As a result, this disease may be diagnosed several years after onset.
